Those were the findings of a report from a detailed investigation conducted by researchers from DTU at the request of the Danish Ministry of Transport. 20 June  Support for radiation therapy DTU Nutech receives a donation of DKK 18.7 million (EUR 2.5 million) from The John and Birthe Meyer Foundation to establish a new laboratory for fundamental medical dosimetry. The laboratory is to support the development and implementation of new forms of radiation therapy at hospitals, and to contribute to assuring continuation of a high standard of patient safety in modern radiation treatment. 22 June G røn Dyst Grøn Dyst 2012 at DTU sees more than 400 students presenting 150 green projects in a range of categories to business people, politicians, teachers and fellow students. The winning projects put forward solutions to all kinds of problems—from anchoring floating wind turbines, for example, to reducing the level of nitrates in drinking water. See also p. 23. 5 July R oskilde Festival powered by DTU students Once again this year, 120 DTU students make a significant impression on the Roskilde Festival. DTU students have a tradition for coming up with creative solutions at the music festival, and one of their inventions this year is a biogas reactor that uses kitchen waste from the festival to generate heat for cooking food. In addition, the students put on an exhibition that presents the concept of using agricultural and kitchen waste to generate CO2-neutral energy. The deep-fat-fryergenerator was used to generate power for the festival again this year. 13 August  The first batch The first candidates graduate from DTU’s new Pharmaceutical Technology programme. The programme, which introduces students to numerous aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, is led by Professor Peter Heegaard from DTU Vet. 14 August H istoric agreement between Denmark and India DTU is a participant in a trail-blazing student exchange programme between India and Denmark. The new programme, which is the first of its kind between the two countries, is to receive a subsidy of DKK 2 million (EUR 270,000) per year from Novozymes A/S and the Holck- Larsen Foundation. 31 August K nowledge export to developing countries Christian Friis Bach, the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation, visits DTU to find out more about the DTU Global Decision Support Initiative. The idea behind the new initiative is for DTU to make research-based decision support systems, tools and general information about risk available to researchers, decision- Sofie Carsten Nielsen, MP and Education and Research Spokeswoman for the Danish Social- Liberal party presents prizes to the winners of DTU’s Grøn Dyst student conference.
