The 11 research projects involving DTU participation that are receiving support from The Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation cover a wide range of topics. The Foundation builds on a model for partnership between companies and groups of researchers at universities or hospitals, where the participating parties share the risk. All parties make a financial contribution and are obliged to share their results with each other. 18 December N ew addition to the family Morten Østergaard, Danish Minister for Science, Innovation and Higher Education approves the merger between Copenhagen University College of Engineering and DTU. The merger is to come into effect on 1 January 2013. Read more about the merger on p. 10. 20 December G reen light for new construction The Danish parliament’s Finance Committee approves the document paving the way for the first stage of the erection of the life science and bioengineering building at DTU Lyngby Campus. 20 December C eramic fuel cell close to breakthrough Test no. 1,000 on a ceramic fuel sell is initiated in the electrochemical laboratory at DTU Energy Conversion. The first series of tests was launched in 2001. The numerous tests formed the basis for the development of multiple generations of fuel cells with extensive durability and world-class performance. Industry partner Topsoe Fuel Cell is working on the commercialization of the technology based on the results achieved at DTU.
