Enhancing Activity for the Oxygen
Evolution Reaction: The Beneficial
Interaction of Gold with Manganese
and Cobalt Oxides
Beyond the scaling relations: Enhancing
the activity of electrocatalysts for
the oxygen evolution reaction is complicated
owing to non-optimal binding energies
of the intermediates. We present
a strategy to circumvent this problem
by introducing gold as a hydrogen
acceptor on catalytically active surfaces.
This leads to lower theoretical overpotentials
for manganese and cobalt
oxides.
