2 Introduction
However, it is perhaps not so surprising that it is dicult to reach agreements
when comparing the distribution of population to distribution of energy consumption
in the world. The distribution of population is illustrated in gure
1.1, which shows a map of the world where every country size is normalized to
the size of its population.
