Its exertions resulted in 12 new grants totalling around DKK 40 million. DTU made targeted efforts in a number of areas with a view to strengthening researchers’ applications to research councils and foundations: its external funding strategy was strengthened, communication in individual applications was improved, an overview of finances and project plans was produced and negotiations were conducted with external partners. In other words, projects had to be put together in such a way that grant providers could feel confident that the researchers would be able to complete the project. According to Erling Stenby, Head of Department at DTU Chemistry, the initiative not only increased awareness among researchers of the importance of a good research application, but also created a framework that makes it easier to attract grants, while releasing researchers’ potential. - Tore Vind Jensen Read more on page 2 Good applications worth their weight in gold DTU Chemistry made an extra effort to help researchers write applications for research funding.
