There is always something happening at DTU Skylab, where you can hold meetings in Skybox concurrently with ideas being developed, presentations held and events staged in the large, newly renovated hall. High above DTU Skylab’s central space is Skybox, a teaching and meeting room in a black box which is painted a glaring yellow inside. “You often make mistakes when trying to predict the needs of users and how they will use the facilities. The place is constantly changing, and people make the space their own.” FACTS Building 373—DTU Skylab—is one example of how DTU’s existing buildings can be transformed into something completely new. DTU Skylab is housed in an old converted research hall, which was previously used by DTU Civil Engineering. Juul Frost Arkitekter was behind the 1,600 m2 conversion. Alectia were the turnkey consultants. Skylab opened in September 2014. The building has been nominated for the renovation award RENOVER Prisen. Campus Development 09/2015 Transforming DTU 35
