1.Best Paper Award at the 50th
Hawaii International Conference on
System Sciences
Associate Professor Ali Gürcan Özkil and
Andre Castro Lundin, in collaboration with
IBM, received the award for the paper Smart
Cities: A case study in waste monitoring and
management.
2. Professor Jesper Schramm’s
inaugural lecture
The new professor gave a lecture with the
title ”The combustion engine now and in
the future” in January. Jesper Schramm was
named professor in 2016.
3. Professor Harry Bingham’s
inaugural lecture
Harry Bingham’s lecture had the title
“Predicting extreme wave loading on marine
structures” and was given in February. He
was named professor at DTU in 2016, and
has been a researcher here since 1999.
4. Talent of the Year: David Bue
Pedersen
Innovation Fund Denmark awarded David
Bue Pedersen with the prize at the Elite-
Forsk award ceremony. The fund stated
the reasons for the award with David Bue
Pedersen’s strong commercial understanding,
and described him as a researcher constantly
pushing the limits of the industry.
5. Successful Open House
With a record of 2700 people visiting Open
House at DTU to learn more about studying
at the university, it was a very busy day for
our team taking care of the stands for DTU
Roadrunners, Design and Innovation and
Mechanical Engineering.
