Scientific advice
Scientific advice to government and industry is one of
DTU’s core activities and involves research-based advisory
services such as risk assessment, contingency plans,
monitoring, mapping, research, and development of new
technologies.
National scientific advice
DTU is one of the main providers of scientific advice and
public sector consultancy to government ministries and
agencies in Denmark, often in close collaboration with
industry. The University establishes and maintains partnerships
within areas such as food safety, fisheries, energy,
climate, maritime applications, railways, and defence.
It is worth noting that the Danish model for scientific
advice is unique in Europe, because it is incorporated
in Danish universities’ portfolio of activities.
International scientific advice
Within the EU, DTU’s collaboration partners include the
European Space Agency and the European Food Safety
Authority. Globally, DTU provides services to multilateral
organizations such as NASA, WHO, the World
Bank, the UN Environment Programme, and other
climate-related research programmes.
The term 'techvelopment' is also high on our agenda.
The University brings its competences within digital
technologies into play in areas such as energy, health,
and environment in emerging and developing countries,
respectively.
Industry and sector development
DTU has a strong focus on UN's Sustainable Development
Goals and believes that innovation and technology
are key factors in meeting the 17 goals.
DTU cooperates with trade organizations, business
clusters, companies, and authorities to analyze and
generate an overview in the future technological needs
and opportunities in different sectors. We apply an
interdisciplinary and generic focus to industry and
sector development, and combine knowledge across
departments, academic fields, and value chains.
Current research projects include digitalization of health
technology, water technology, and smart energy systems
as well as bioeconomy and circular construction.
Renewable energy service
DTU launched a new initiative
in 2017 that combines our
range of expertise in renewable
energy with an emphasis on
energy system integration and
utilization of variable renewable
energy sources.
