New on campus
In order to build the society of the future, we must create settings
where education, innovation, and research are of the highest
calibre. An elite university must be able to offer its students
and researchers matching facilities, which is why the University
is currently investing more than EUR 738 million (DKK 5.5
billion) in a comprehensive transformation and up-grade of our
campuses and infrastructure.
New research infrastructure
2017 saw the completion of a number of major constructions—
among them a 42,000 m2 building complex on Lyngby Campus
which brings together a large part of DTU’s research at the
interface between the life sciences and technical sciences.
Villum Center for Advanced Structural and Material Testing
Facilities have been built on Risø Campus and Lyngby Campus
to accommodate the new centre—one of the world’s leading
facilities for experimental multi-scale research in sustainable
materials and eco-friendly building construction. casmat.dtu.dk
Poul La Cour Wind Tunnel
In April 2018, Denmark’s new national wind tunnel on DTU
Risø Campus was inaugurated by HRH Prince Joachim of
Denmark. The wind tunnel is unique because it is possible to
expose the turbine blade to wind speeds of up to 105 metres per
second, and to combine aerodynamic and noise measurements.
