Company name
Medico Optical Center (MOC)
DTU Fotonik And Urologisk afdeling at Herlev/Gentofte
Hospital
What do we offer? Project Picture
DTU Fotonik and the Hospital Herlev/Gentofte partner up
for translating biomedical optics techniques into the
clinics.
DTU Fotonik and the urology department at
Herlev/Gentofte Hospital thus install an optics lab in the
Herlev/Gentofte Hospital, to bring basic research close to
the end user, as well as to teach students in translational
research.
The center also collaborates with partners in industry.
Solution
Translation of new, cutting edge technologies from the lab
to the clinic is often hindered by a limited understanding of
clinical applications, or limited knowledge of possibilities
enabled by new technology.
By bringing clinicians, engineers, and physicists together
with companies to work in the same space, we bridge the
gap between all those disciplines.
What differentiates us?
Bridging the gap between the clinic and the technical university enables targeted optics research with concrete
goals.
The first project includes multimodal imaging to diagnose bladder cancer, and involves universities, SMEs and
hospitals from all over Europe. Further projects with industry comprise development of endoscopes, photodynamic
diagnosis and indwelling bladder catheters.
What do we look for at the Medico Bazar?
We want to spread the word about this new opportunity for photonics research and industry involvement directly
in the clinics to potential partners and funds who want or need collaboration with MOC.
